Getting started
From the waitlist to your first bot. You need one computer and one AI engine you already use.
1. Sign in to an engine
Mexerica doesn't have a model of its own. Your bots think with an AI coding agent installed on your computer, signed in with the plan you already pay for:
- Claude Code with a Claude plan, or Codex with a ChatGPT plan. The app walks you through signing in to both.
- Cursor, Gemini, Grok, OpenCode or Pi, as they are already set up on your computer.
- At work, your company's AI gateway works the same way.
One engine is enough. You never type a password or an API key into Mexerica.
2. Download and install
- Mac, Windows or Linux: early access for now: join the waitlist, and once invited, install and open the app. It sets up the Hub, the part that runs your bots and keeps their memory, on this computer.
- iPhone or Android: install the phone app to talk to your team and approve requests from anywhere. The phone connects to your Hub; your bots keep running on your computer.
3. Meet Berga
Every new Hub comes with Berga at the top of the sidebar. Berga is the leader: you can ask anything, and he decides which bot should do it. Berga can't be deleted or renamed, and his base instructions are fixed, so the team always has a lead.
Berga, I need someone to answer customers on WhatsApp.
4. Create your first bot
Ask Berga, as above, and he proposes a bot: a role, an engine, instructions and only the access it needs. Choose Create and test, Edit first or Discard.
To do it by hand, choose + next to Bots. Creating a bot takes four steps, with a live preview: pick a role template, name it and choose its mascot, choose its engine, and review.
5. Decide what it can use
A new bot starts with no apps. Open the bot, go to its apps, and turn on only what its job needs. Then choose how it asks before sensitive actions. See Approvals.
